Watched the IFTA's on Sat night, sweet and gentle jesus only the Irish could put on a show like that. Half the convention center was empty, all up the sides and balcony were completely empty.

My daughter who is an aspiring actor said she would give her right arm to be there and couldn't understand why they wouldn't fill the place with acting graduates from around the country......

Brenda Fricker walked out on it last year.

    So hipster.

Pretty, shallow manuquens give each other awards for mouthing other people's writings.

    No one cares.

How is anyone surprised by it? It's the IFTA's

I thought I saw John C Reilly there for a split second, he must have lost a bet or something.

I'd rather watch myself shave a Kiwi fruit in the mirror.

Meh. I hate award shows with a passion, especially televised ones.

Didn't watch it but it was on. The biggest load of bullsh1t copying the oscars or something and timed to be on in and around the oscars and all.

    Pure cock

Time for real celebrations - if us Irish misery guts can face it - film-people/luvvies simply aren't dying fast enough for the IFTA's!!!. So few of them died last year that the IFTA people had to go way back to 2007 to garner respectable quantities for its' tribute to those passed. For e.g. and from what I can remember: Mick Lally, (2010) Donal Gilligan, (2010) Michael Dwyer (2010) and Cathal O'Shannon, (2011) and wait of it, Tom Murphy the actor (2007)!!! and there were others - I lost track!!!.....Or is it just that we don't have enough "legends" in the first place? Awkward. Can yes not just skip this bit for the next few years, give us time to die and yez can build up a brand new pool of "legends"... this little pool we call Ireland is a mere pond, and one in which people live too long!!!

Who was that fat fella hosting it? He was in Intermission, apparently he's not partial to onion rings.

Simom Delaney - the funny one from RTE's "Bachelors Walk" and had a part in the US "The Good Wife" last year - he was great in those - he's a savvy actor

My granny Moira Deady got a lovely mention. She was Mary Riordan in The Riordans, irelands first soap :)

God, the negativity here would knock a horse! Ok, agree the emptiness factor was very noticeable and the actors graduates idea is good. But actually thought it was nice for the upcoming and young new actors who were awarded for their work throughout the year who looked really chuffed. That's the point isn't it. To be honest just because the oscars and the Golden Globes have all the glitz and glam and money poured into it by the bucketful, doesn't take away the cheeziness or falseness of the hosting either.

I'm afraid the same old 'luvvies' appear year after year.

Irish scene too small and incestuous to support this year after year.

Better to do it in house.
