This is massively speculative on my part.

I have a Dolan PreCursa 58cm aluminium framed track bike like this one here:

    http://www.dolan-bikes.com/track-bikes/alloy/Pre%20Cursa%20Track%20Bike?product_id=662

    It's in Black.

It has the Navigator Pista Aluminium Clincher wheels, with no brake surface and a double fixed hub.

    Has a 170mm 50t Miche Primato chainset with a 15T sprocket, a 110mm FSA os 99 stem, and 42cm Oval handlebars.

It's a great track bike, one which I really, really like.

What I am looking for is the exact same bike, except with a front brake, so I can use it as a commuter*. I'd take a 56cm version of the same, as it seems I'm on the edge of the two frame sizes.

*I have moved to Dundalk, which is flat, and while most of my bikes are still back in Dublin, I need to think about which bikes to bring up here for racing, given my limited storage in the house here. I reckon I'll be down doing the league on the track most weeks, and doing the road racing league here, so having my good bike and my track bike here would be great, but I'd need to use one of them to get to the shops, work, etc, and don't want to bring my Look to the marshes, or ride around brakeless on anything. Hence my predicament. This would be a great solution, I reckon.

Before anyone asks, I'm not looking to sell this. And I'm not splitting it for parts.

What about just getting a drilled fork?

Some have drilled them themselves btw, not that I'm recommending that?

Ah yes, but there's a cost to getting new bits, when I really don't need them. As I said, hugely speculative on my part, but you'll get nothing if you don't ask for it!

Also, I'm not drilling the fork. That's asking for trouble, in my opinion.

As a follow on to my response to Harrybelafonte, if someone just wanted to swap forks, I'd be more than happy to consider it.

I am planing on getting a Dolan frameset next month, i could get an FXE, which has the same fork as the pre cursa, but it's drilled, instead of the pre cursa and swap the forks. As i said it'll be next month, but if you don't have any luck i wouldn't mind.

Sounds ideal! What size are you getting? I ask to make sure the steerer length is the same... But I'm not in a huge rush, so let me know when this is on the cards.

I haven't really looked into sizing yet, but i ride a 58 on the road, so somewhere around there.

Great stuff. If I sort any alternatives much sooner, I'll let you know, but this sounds good to me.

@RockWerchter, while I'm not trying to do myself out of a deal, I also don't want to see anyone miss out on a deal themselves:

Might save you a few quid...
