    Hey

So i was posting a new thread in motors Diy today and the header starting doing odd enough things.

When i hit the backspace key it would come down into the text box you type in. Typing again seemed to resolve it.

Its not happening now. but here is a screen shot. It kind of looks like a terrible photoshop by me :)

    Nice photoshop :)

Can I get the diagnostics details for Browser/System (sans your IP). And had this happened before? It seems a very weird glitch, I usually only get them on Chrome with Pepperflash enabled.

I had this happen to me over the weekend too (Friday evening I think).

The header seemed to flicker (appear and disappear) in the text box for a couple of seconds and then settle back at the top of the page where it should be. I didn't notice anything triggering it at the time (backspace, typing, etc)

Thinking back I don't know if the header was moving from the top of the page

Not on the machine in question atm, but I can post the diagnostics later.

I was just typing the above post when it happened again (on a different machine than Friday evening)

I have no idea what triggered it and by the time I had cropped the screenshot (Wrong_Header.png) the header had returned to the top of the page (Right_Header.png). You can see the cursor position in the Right_Header.png image

    Here's the diagnostics:

Thanks for that mooonpie. How often does this happen? Can you make it happen at will or?

I was going to say it only happened twice, but ....

While writing this response I have made it happen again and can reproduce it as follows:

Scroll down so the sticky header is active but not so far that the reply title box is completely covered by the sticky header

Write a reply long enough to make the scroll bar appear (Pressing enter 15 times in the reply box is enough)

Move to the last line of the reply (so the scroll bar for the reply box is at the bottom)

Without scrolling up in the text box, delete any line in the reply box (using either backspace or delete) and the header moves.

Left, middle or right click will move the header back to its correct location

    How oddly specific :)

@witnessmenow - Can you confirm this?

Nope! it sounds about right, (I had a scroll bar in what I was typing) but its not happening for me now

Its a bad habit I picked up from reading rather vague bug reports during a particularly traumatic spell of my training at my current job. I wanted to be more specific but I haven't found a way to measure how many pixels I'm scrolling down :D

I did notice though that depending on how far down I've scrolled, different divs of the sticky header move.

Scroll a little -> nav-area, header and breadcrumb all move
Scroll a good bit -> nav-area and header move; breadcrumb stays in place
Scroll a bit more -> only nav-area moves; header and breadcrumb stay in place
Scroll too far -> nothing moves

If I hover over the divs in question (using 'Inspect element' in Google Chrome) when they have moved, Chrome still highlights where they should be rather than where they are (see screenshot)

Not sure if that info is of any use, but it'll hardly hurt :)

Yeah, I'm on W7 with Chrome 24 now and I cannot reproduce. Again it leads me to think it's a rendering issue with Chrome/Pepperflash - the ads in all screenshots are flash ads.

@moonpie - in your Chrome inspector you can go to Console and type $(window).scrollTop(); to get the value in pixels of your current scroll position

And now it's happening for me ...well at least I know you two aren't crazy. Time to debug this

    Danny

Sounds spot on - I've turned off my ads in User CP and can't reproduce it in Chrome. I also can't reproduce in IE 9, Firefox 16.0.2 or 18.0.2 (with or without ads)

To be honest, its not a massive problem for me (I didn't even think to report it when it happened on Friday) and I only commented to say it happened to me too. Though when it happened again I figured I'd try work out what scenario caused it.

--Edit: Can't reproduce it any more ... was gonna try out that console command :(

ok, I can reproduce at will now.

As you say Danny, You need a flash ad.

Scroll down so the nav bar (search bar) is over the ad.

as moonpie says you need a scroll bar

When you have one, pressing backspace moves the navbar.

    $(window).scrollTop(); = 200

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph. An inline formatting menu will show up when you select text. Hit tab to get into that menu. Some elements, such as rich link embeds, images, loading indicators, and error messages may get inserted into the editor. You may navigate to these using the arrow keys inside of the editor and delete them with the delete or backspace key.
