    do people have to testify in court once they have been requested by the gardai to do so or can they refuse to do so?will it cause that person any difficulties in future if they refuse?

    Most likely. it depends on the individual circumstances though.

    Offhand, I think the guards can use a pre-existing sworn statement in such cases? This is due that that similar fact Limerick witness intimidation case a while back.

    Only on indictment, can not be used in the DC.
