Opel Corsa 00 not starting sometimes

    Hey Guys,

My Opel corsa 00 1l petrol is having some issues starting.

Maybe 1/10 times it does not start.

The battery has recently been replaced (few weeks) so I do not believe it is that.

The majority of the time the car starts perfectly. But then sometimes it doesnt, I haven't noticed a pattern to when it does or doesn't start.

The battery sounds strong when it doesn't start , as in plenty of effort is being made to start, but the engine just doesn't seem to take over (you might have guessed i dont know a lot about cars!), Even if you leave the key turned for 5-10 seconds (normally it would start pretty much as soon as you turn it). I am pressing the accelerator when im trying to start it. Trying to start it again straight after doesnt work either.

The car does eventually start with a jump (cables, not a push), put as I said the battery is strong so Im not sure what good this is doing, I think it may just be the time in between starting it the first time and waiting for it to be jumped. I've asked my GF to not jump it the next time it happens and see will waiting sort it.

Any ideas what it could be or what I could check out?

My GF is driving the car at the moment, cause I'm commuting to work and I have her diesel car. I dont think she is very happy with me at the moment that im stealing her reliable car and leaving her my heap, never mind the fact it doesnt start all the time :pac:

Most likely the Crankshaft Sensor. It does fail on these cars.

Thanks for the reply. I dropped it to fella at the weekend and he said it's that OK.

Unfortunately there is a couple of other things wrong with it so it won't pass the nct which is up in April. Too expensive to spend on it so it's going to little car heaven. My first car, have it 8 years in march. I was actually quite sad yesterday working out that the car just is not with fixing it's been good to me :)
