What was the best show this season?

We're two thirds in, some have already been axed but overall this season has been a dud!, nothing hugely original and no massive breakout hits.

I *do not* include revolution because just like Smash it is heavily lead-in dependent. When Smash had no The Voice it totally CRASHED to a pathetic 1.2, and will surely drop further.

I guess Arrow is a hit in CW terms but even recent eps. have seen a mild decline. TBh I cant recall or think of any shows from the 2012 season that wowed me, next season doesn't look much better.....:(

Guess we'll have to stick to cable shows :)

From network shows, Elementary is my favourite. Miller, Liu and Quinn just bounce off each other and have great chemistry. The stories are clever too.

Arrow, as you've said, is a great little show and one I look forward to watching.

The Following is completely ludicrous and shouldn't work, but it really really does. Cracking show.

I think I'm part of a small group of people who enjoyed (or even heard of!) UTV's Primeval a few years ago, and the Canadian spin-off - Primeval New World - has blossomed into an excellent show after a pretty hokey start. Nice to see some Eureka actors back on the screen too.

I've only watched a few episodes of House of Cards, but it looks really promising.

Golden Boy (Feb 26th) and Cult (Feb 19th) are new shows on my radar for this month. I know Zero Hour is going to be awful, but I'll still check it out.

In the US, 'Elementary' is the best new show bar none. Not one dud in the first 15 or so episodes. Some of the deductions are ludicrous but you can't help but go with it. Fantastic!

'The Following' is very good, albeit a bit silly. Though definitely watchable!

In the UK, 'Utopia' and 'Moone Boy' have been the best new shows in the last few months. Honourable mention to 'A Touch Of Cloth' too - silly but good fun!

I'm afraid I'm one of the few who lost interest in Arrow after about 3 episodes.

House of Cards was my favourite, I thought it was a real masterpiece. Fantastic acting, by Spacey in particular, but the others were all good too. Well written, well directed, amazing production values. There were a few flaws, but they were hugely outweighed by the awesomeness of the show. But in a way I look at it as a special event almost, it doesn't seem fair to put it up against regular TV.

Elementary is definitely up there. I worried it was going to be a bit of a House clone, but it has really come in to it's own. It has some really clever story lines, and lots of very subtle little clever bits to look out for too, like the ways Holmes is subtly guiding and training Watson.

Banshee is only a few episodes in, but seems pretty good so far. I've no idea yet where it's going, but it's great fun.

Suits is having a brilliant second season, it has expanded on everything that was good from the 1st season, and brought in a thrilling story line. I don't know how they're going to top this next season though.

Personally I'm not thrilled with Arrow, it has potential but the angsty-teen-drama stuff can be a little grating, especially because they're 30-something billionaires. There is a lot to like as well though and I think it'll get better in time.

Elementary is by far the best show this season, and i knew it would be hard to top from the first episode, the only show im still waiting to air is Golden Boy, it probably wont be as good as Elementary but going by the premise it looks like it could be a very good show for a few years to come,

and Arrow is probably the next best show, which really is saying something of the quality of the new network shows this season that i consider a CW show the second best new show,

also in the comedy section im still really enjoying Go On, and The Mindy Project has had 2 or 3 strong episodes lately, and also The Neighbors has been good, but i think its slipping a bit lately, but it doesn't really matter anyway cause i cant see any future in the show with the ratings its getting,

Revolution has been an odd show for me this season, i should have really stopped watching at this stage, but something in the show seems to keep me coming back, ill tune in to see if they can iron out some of the issues with the show, it has potential but i dunno if they can live up to it, when you look at a show like The Walking Dead this season, its gonna be hard for any other post apocalyptic show to live up to that, and that is probably Revolutions closest comparison show, or maybe the short lived Terra Nova (which i gave up on after 4 episodes) or Falling Skies,

I think 'The Mindy Project' has hit it's stride... some very strong episodes lately.

'Go On' started well but it's become a bit of a labour to watch.. writing is ho-hum and it's leaning too far into the drama area of "dramedy" at times. Great if you can pull it off, but I don't think it does it very well.

'The Neighbors' is still very entertaining.. and it's unfortunate to see it dwindle in the ratings. But I'd say ABC will renew either it or 'Happy Endings'.. I'm hoping the latter to be honest.

I'm behind on most of the shows except Arrow which is decent with the potential to be stronger but it does more than enough to keep me interested.

And another series that I didn't expect to like but find it brilliant is the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Seeing images beforehand and the look of it, I really didn't like it. But after watching the first episode, I find it to be one of the very few shows where I'm genuinely laughing and enjoying.

I really like Elementary, but I watched 1 episode of Arrow and thought it was complete and utter crap.

House of Cards has to be up there, even if its not on TV. Elementary is good, but the actors besides Jonny Lee Miller are hard to warm to, we basically know nothing about anyone but Sherlock. Arrow is fun, as previously mentioned, but yeah, House of Cards for me.

A show doesnt have to wow you to be great television. Looking back over the past decade and bar Breaking Bad and a handful of others WOW shows have been few and far between. A show such as Elementary will never be considered a WOW show but what it does, it does so better than anything else on right now. We've seen 15 or so episodes and bar one (the whole killer in the high flying firm one) it's been one of the finest shows in years. There is nothing terribly original there but it is consistently entertaining, there's real chemistry between the actors and an intelligence that most procedural lack.

The Following is the closest to a WOW show since Spartacus. It's jsut completely ludicrous, preposterous and down right retarded at times but you can't help but be impressed by the manner in which it embraces the set up and just runs with it. The same goes for Zero Hour which I have yet to see and looks both terrible and brilliant. It's a ridiculous set up but has oodles of potential to do something a little more light hearted and fun.

Primeval was great and far as I'm concerned it's superior to Dr. Who. It's a show that exists simply to entertain and never tried to be deep or clever for the sake of it, something Who does far too often for my liking. Primeval was just pure escapism and one of the few shows that my family back home would all gather round and watch. Even Charlie Brooker loved it.

The past season has seen some damn good for TV. We have had enjoyable fare such as the Neighbors, the great Elementary, Go On, the interesting looking The Americans and a handful of others including the rather good Canadian comedy Mr. D which is currently airing it's second season.

For me House of Cards and The Following. I've really been enjoying them. I gave up on Arrow after the fifth episode. I was surprised to be honest because I thought it would be right up my street, but it just didn't work for me.
