i chose walcott at home to villa. i could possibly switch to RVP before then but as things stand it'll be walcott.

I'm currently on Walcott, but will make a decision closer to the date. Despite shipping 4 goals vs Swansea, Qpr will be better against United. Harry will have a solid week to look at how to stop United.

I still think United will win, but it will be tight.

Walcott home to Villa is the correct choice given form etc..It is likely RVP will miss the cup game v Reading and get a run out v QPR so putting him as captain will be risky,i see a 30 min 2nd half sub role for him.

i don't agree about RVP, he can't go into the madrid game having barely played in 3 weeks. I agree that he'll be rested for the reading cup game (on the bench for if he's needed) but why rest him for qpr when the madrid game is 10 days after it?? in what is a tricky away game and a chance to open a whopping 15 point gap before city play chelsea.
He'll start v qpr but would def be a risk for starting the following week v norwich, that's the one i think he'll be left on the bench for if ferguson feels he needs to rest him before the madrid game.

I agree. I didn't realise the Madrid game was three weeks away until Mourinho mentioned it in the press conference.

RVP will start against QPR IMO and I'd expect to see him get at least a half hour against Norwich.

He looked a bit rusty against Real so I'm sure Fergie will want to give him the chance to get his confidence back up.

Ever since he was rested in the Fa cup he hasn't been great . Resting can have a negative affect on form . Even if he is still scoring and assisting

i thought rvp was very good on wed his chances bar one of them weren't easy . Rooney on the otherhand was very poor constantly losing possession.Rvp should defo start v qpr the norwich game i still think is unlikely.

In form though, I'd have expected him to put away that miskick which was cleared.

Bale has to be given serious consideration from now on imo. Another 2 goals against a good Lyon side last night, i can't remember him ever showing this good form before. A must have for every ff team now imo

He's in the form of his life. Real will definitely come knocking in the Summer I think.

Two great free kicks last night. Didn't see the game but saw them on SSN this morning.

no doubt he should have scored dont think it comes down to form though his chest control and strike in the last minute was class , bales in great form and missed an even easier chance last nite.

I agree hes a must have has been most of the season even more so now that hes playing off the front man. The thing is though the masses will bring him in again this week he will probably not score in the next two games theyll transfer him out and just as they do he will score a brace. That was my bale experience last couple of years, have learned my lesson get him in and keep him in.

I only saw that chance for a minute on SSN but it looked like it rebounded and hit Bale on the shin before he even realised.

of course it does but for example rvp 6 5 6 9 as opposed to bale 3 2 3 18 a lot of players get in bale after his 18 only for him to do nothing for a few wks transfer out and then miss the inevitable big score. Rvp constant returns so people keep him.

thats what i meant. when you bring someone because they just got a big score you have to be willing to give them 7 or 8 games and then decide. thats the biggest mistake people make, the poll on selling van persie being the perfect example. two quiet games and suddenly he's finished :pac:

exactly and i used to make that mistake with bale but if your patient with him he comes good . I sold rvp but did it for fear of rotation around the Madrid games hasn't been too successful so far but will judge it after the norwich game when i plan to get him back. In my case it was nothing to do with his 2 blanks but im sure it was for a lot of people.

Had a dream that RVP wouldn't start this gw. I saw myself checking the points somewhere in the second half and "0 (c)" next to him.

    Waste of a dream really.

    RVP will start Saturday. 100%.

QPR kept cleanies vs Chelsea, Spurs and City recently. If United win, they could be up to 15 points ahead of City come Sunday evening. I fancy Chelsea to get at least a point.

I'm still captaining him. That was said last year on here pre the Blackburn game and I think he played and got a hat trick and two assists.

He didn't start Monday night and United don't have a game midweek. I don't see why he'd be rested again.

RVP is a professional. And you need to keep professionals sharp. Can't see why he'd be rested. It's a bit silly to omit somebody because you think they might get injured. Surely if he didn't feature it couldn't be down to him needing a rest. I'm still torn between Walcott and RVP though.

cant see it myself the norwich game is surely the one he would miss much easier on paper and if he doesnt start sat he would be going 17 days without starting a game.

Source? QPR play on a very small pitch and do well there. As I said previously, Spurs, Chelsea and City couldn't score vs them.

If United win Saturday, they will be 15 points clear by the time City face Chelsea.

There isn't a hope that Van Persie is rested for this game. He may get a rest vs Norwich, and I am quite confident that he will. I'll make sure that I'll have a fifth mid who can come in and do the business.

Anyone who voted Walcott having second thoughts after loss to Bayern?

Expected board vote in confidence in Wenger today, I hope for a backlash against villa.

Originally I was all for Walcott but they were really poor midweek. I am not sure now if RVP is better option. (although busts makes excellent point on QPR at home)

Is every Walcott (C) sticking to their guns?

I voted Walcott and having second thoughts, but not 100 convinced of RVP doing well. QPR's last 3 home games have been 0-0 so they're happy enough parking the bus. Dont really have many other options though because of the lpool swansea blank. forced to play 4 defenders and have townsend in my midfield.

I'm going RVP purely because it bites me in the ass every time I don't. Even if he gets a 2 pointer so many others will have him. All things aside, he's the in form striker for the team at the top of the league, and he's up against the team at bottom of the league. Granted, they've tightened up a bit over the last month but Swansea's 4-1 hammering last week shows they are still a struggling side.

I'd like to have more United defenders this week tbh, especially De Gea. QPR have been shocking in front of goal, 19 goals in 26 games.

Yeah it really is a tough one this week.

Another reason for Walcott for me is that I have a general rule of picking home game captains.

Granted RVP did wreck against a calamitous Wigan but away to Fulham (despite ridiculous BP) and away to Norwich stand out in my memory.

I just prefer the 'tempo' of a home game for my captain. In this respect I am hoping for a good response from Arsenal straight from kickoff. We all know what they are capable of in the Emirates when they are in the mood. Also Villas defense is awful...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,262 ✭✭✭iroced

Rooney ruled out of QPR game (=> https://twitter.com/SkySportsNews/status/304538923181412353).
Hard to see RVP rested now...

qpr have been pretty tight at the back lately so best case

I think if they let one in then the floodgates might open. They pretty much play a 10 man defence but not much point doing that if you're losing. I can't see them keeping a clean sheet against united.
