Getting Ready For Next Season

What will ye do from now till the start of the season?
Have you any plans made out on things that need to be done? More vermin control, new pens, etc?

I plan on releasing adult birds this year. I had originally planned to rear birds but with work commitments that isn't going to be possible.

I am starting from this week to gather supplies. I have a larsen trap ordered as I want one of my own instead of using the club trap.

Next I want to get a feeder or two and then start getting supplies for the actual release pen, timber, wire, etc.
I'll start a new thread about building a release pen and to pick your brains on dimensions, removable roof, etc later on.

I still have a good stock of birds on my ground so my plan this year is to release no pheasants or partridges but continue feeding right through the year. Any free time I get there will be spent on vermin control. I've also to resow the gamecrop this year, so will do it differently this time, in strips. I've also a very decent second duck pond on the go, so gonna get more duck this year and split them between the two. If I do all that, I'll be doing rightly as they say!

I was hoping to put out a few wild bird feeders for pheasants in a few places myself in the coming months all depending on work committments and more importantly €€€€. I do alot of crow trapping around my own place and do a bit of lamping but i'm hoping to do a bit more this year weather permitting to be honest, and hopefully get another 1 or 2 Mink traps as well but my sucess hasn't been great .I wouldn't mind trying to plant a game crop maybe a half acre or so if I can get a patch from the brother maybe.
