Nikon Coolpix S3100 - won't charge

    Hi guys,

Tried to charge my camera this evening - it has a lithium ion battery and the thing is completely dead. It won't charge - no charging lights firing up or anything, nothing!

I've tried powering it on just to get "battery exhausted" however I can't get it to charge.

The camera is only 6 months old and has only been used a few times, admittedly the battery hasn't been regularly charged, but i didn't think it would die so soon?

Is there anyway I can kickstart it back to life again so to speak? Would placing the battery in the freezer help at all? :o

Most of the time camera batteries have a warranty of 6months (it seems to be common) but it shouldn't die after 6 months of little use regardless of charge held in it.
Are you sure the charger is working?
If you have a friend with a similar model or the same make check to see if the battery/charger are the same type and test your camera with them.
Worst case scenario, your camera has bit the dust and is under warranty provided it's not water, sand or impact damage etc...
Best case scenario, you most likely either need a new battery or charger/fuse in charger plug.

When you leave it in the charger are there any lights or indicators to show full charge/charging status at all?
