SOT-976FB in Citroen C5 (2008)

Hopefully someone familiar with fitting car stereos and such can help me.

I previously had a VW Golf (2007) and had fitted myself a Motorola Bluetooth kit to the factory stereo. I used an SOT-976FB lead to connect original car wiring to the Bluetooth kit. I now have a Citroen C5 and want to use the same kit. I have found that there seems to be some SOT leads for Citroen but I just tried connecting the kit to the stereo using the old SOT lead and the stereo still worked. I didn't get the kit to power on as I will need to get ignition feed to it.

The question I have is do I really need a new SOT lead if the old one works or am I likely to screw up something by using the wrong lead

    Thanks
