Depends what kind of humbucker, if you have a pickguard or not, whether the Strat is routed for a humbucker, where you are...

I'd recommend John Moriarty - archtop.ie. He did a great job on my SG.

There are others around Dublin like Haze Guitars and Derrick Nelson but I have no direct experience with them so I'll let other people comment.

It wouldn't do any harm to email them about it either!

Pretty much any tech should be able to do that, it all depends on what's underneath the pickguard you have on the guitar at the moment though. If you take it off and there's only three small holes the size of your single coil pickups, then it'll have to be routed out.

On the other hand, if it's already routed for a humbucker, it's should only cost 30-40 euro including strings. You've got a hand full of techs to choose from, Eugene McLoughlin at Guitarworkshop.ie on the South Circular gets my vote, but you've also got Derek Nelson, John Moriarty, Jimi's Music Store, The Music Outlet in Swords, Haze guitars. Any of them will be more than able to do it.

anyone who knows the hot end of a soldering iron from the cold end could do it.

its only a couple of wires.

I highly recommend Haze guitars , Gerry done a sterling job on an Epiphone LP , it came back an excellent guitar as opposed to an ok one, got a pickup swap and setup done , some minor fretwork also. He was quite resonable price wise too

This is true but I'd nearly say bring it to someone good and get a good set up done while you're there.
