Problem with sky dish

Hi all. My sky tv has stopped working. Went throught the usual with customer care and still not working. They said it must be something up with the dish. They said it would be a €100 call out fee to have a look at it.

I've a feeling the dish may have moved in the strong wind we have had. What I am wondering is could/would an independent satellite installer be able to check this and indeed fix it for less than sky?

    Thanks folks.

    Yes,,they should.

An indie should cost between €50 and €70 for the call-out.

Are you out of contract with Sky? I presume since you rang them you still have a sub with them?
If that's the case you could always try the "I can't afford it,so I have no service,,so I'm getting rid of sky and going to UPC".

They will usually offer to fix it for free then. But you will be entering a new 12 month contract with them.

Worth a go,,and only costs a phone call.

Thanks for the reply. I am out of contract with sky. With them about 4 years. I'm afraid threatening to move to UPC isn't an option for me as I live out in the countryside. Guess I could just threathen to just cancel it altogether.

Glad to hear that an indie can fix it for me though.

Doesn't matter where you live, just mention moving to UPC & they'll drop any callout fee.;)
