When I switch on my laptop, I can hear the fan come on and the lights come on but the screen is not switching on. Any ideas?
Laptop is Packard bell and just over 3 years old

others will offer better solutions but first off i would try and connect the laptop to a tv or another desktop. if your normal screen comes up, then it's your actual laptop screen that needs repairing/replacing.

Try that first, crazy geryy is right.

Also try moving the screen back and forwards slowly, see if it flickers on at any point.

Do you get any beeps? Post the model while you're there.

It's doing everything normally except the screen is not lighting up.
    Model is Easynote TJ65

Yeah, that doesnt mean you're getting as far as your OS though.

There are three things that would likely be at fault FYI:
    Screen/inverter dead
    screen cable loose or dead
    GPU dead

Other option is something stopping the mobo from posting, but that'd be less common, especially if all the lights come on.

Ok so I've been playing around with it since yesterday and I put my hand on the screen and it came on so there's something wrong there.

worn out cable. jiggle it. fixed.

I bought a replacement inverter for mine when it started doing that, but it has managed to hang on for dear life. I just jiggle it. Haven't needed to replace it yet. The inverter is in a drawer somewhere.
