Possible that the connection to her apartment has been removed by the company appointed by the management company of the complex so that she will have to pay them to connect her...they would be your first point of call, sky have nothing to do with most communal systems.

If you are with sky they will send a tech out as the dish is theirs and they will connect it up but they may try and charge but ring them and tell them you don't have that sort of money and they should be able to do a better deal.
Do it now as there does be a waiting list at busy times.

Ask the neighbours in nearby apartments. Also ask the management company.

Can you take a photo and upload it here?
Try to take a photo of the back of the plate.

Assuming one cable in, two or 3 connections out, the plate might be called a demultiplexer.

    Have a look here:
    http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/wall_plates.htm

    and here:
    http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/multiswitch.htm (scroll down)

Are the connections threaded or push in? Are they labelled?

If there is only one cable in, it might only be a single satellite feed, or it might be saorview only, or it might be a basic hotel type system with 10 or 20 channels.

If it is a single satellite feed you would need to set the receiver to single feed mode in a hidden menu for it to work properly.

The management company should have contact details for the installers, who should know which type system it is.

I have in an apartment with communal dish. Day the guys came to connect me up, it wouldnt work as the management company had disconnected me in a comms room on the basement. So once this was resolved everything worked fine.

Sky do not own the dishes in communal systems. They are normally installed by a satellite installation company. They allow the free reception of Freesat at 28.2. If you want anything after that you install a Sky box to the same connection.

OP Get onto the management company and find out who the satellite installation company used for the complex are. No doubt they have a maintenance contract.

Sky do use their own also but do use Sierra and other contractors to do their work.

As I and Byte has already stated sky own very little of the communal systems in Ireland and either do Sierra for that matter. As I already stated contact ur management company and find out who is in charge of it. Sky will not have access to the comms's room even if they send out one of their appointed enginners.
