Milk: Difference between tank and lorry??

The tank shows me how many litres of milk I have. The lorry collects between 80 and 100 litres less than my tank most collections. Anyone else find this or am I being petty?

How does the tank show you? What size tank is it?

I take it the milk tank in question is a dairymaster. The main flaw with what is a great innovation is the system appears to be more an approximation with no certification to verify the accuracy of the reading shown.unlike the milk tankers metering system which is fully calibrated every 12 months under the supervision of an nsai sergeant of weights and measurement.

I know a man who worked for a co op who swears that the clocks on the trucks would be fixed, just before, and again just after the sergeant of weights and measures paid a visit.

Ed, you are usually very measured, I am surprised at you. That is total BULL and you know it. I know you have an agenda and issues with your co-op but statements like that??????:mad::mad:

I never even named the Co-Op.Did I strike a nerve there our something?

PM me and I can give you the mans name and phone number and you can talk to him yourself. I am just telling you what he told me. He swears blind that happend!!! Maybe you might have an agenda yourself. Are you on the board of Glanbia or planning on heading in that direction by any chance?

The man tells the story that a manager bosted he could make enough money for the co op to pay for milk collection. Ok that was a few years back but I rememberd the story when I read the post.

My father drove a milk lorry collecting from farm to farm. I never once heard him talk of anything like that. He did mention a few cute farmers who would wash down their tanks before he had finished sucking out the milk.:)

Ed, we supply a very large volume of milk annually and if I for one moment had any suspicion of tampering I would have installed a weigh bridge or some such long ago. A small discrepancy here would amount to thousands.

As for my agenda, I do have one it's 'fairness'. I am not a board member nor do I have any ambition in that area as I have enough to keep myself fully occupied running my own business.

For the record we are Glanbia suppliers here.

I am glad to hear your agenda is fairness. But so is mine. You never Pm'd me for that mans name and number. Why do you get so afraid if someone questions a Co-Op? I remember it wasn't that long ago when people would get upset if someone questioned anyone in authority. Look at all the people who were abused in this state as a result of people standing by and being afraid to ask the hard questions. We own the Co-Ops for God sake! It's our right, I would even say our responsibility, to question whats going on in our own business. If someone tells me something in good faith is it wrong of me to repeat it here? And I am willing to give you access to my source. I never even named the Co-Op in question.

For example. Is it right that a Farmer working for a company is told his job could be in danger if he didn't remove his name from a motion calling for an SGM to discuss his own business?

I'm glad to hear you agenda is fairness. I look forwarding to you having to agree with me on this point.

I'm in agreement about accountability and ownership and have no problem with the hard questions being asked and they should.

It is your responsibility to come out publicly with that info. You say that your source is reliable then contact a media outlet and 'out' this scandal, because that's what it is!!

I totally agree that no person should be in any way intimidated because of a view they hold, by any person or organistion

I milked for a relation and the lorry driver used to come in and wash down the tank when it was near empty and collect it all. Then he'd pick up a sample bottle that was left on top of the tank for him. Heard recently he was filling a small milk tank of milk for a local lad for feeding calves.

Simple rule 'milk on the floor better than water in the tank'

Glad you agree. If you have any contacts in the media who are willing to look in to that please get in touch and I will give them the details of my source. Just be warned it's not easy getting stuff on the agri media in this country as certain Co-Ops openly use spin doctors and threats when dealing with the media. And if that fails they just pull advertising. Co-Op are still one of the great bastions of power in this country. Honestly some of them should be ashamed to use the title of a Co-Op. Click on this link and it might help refresh your memory. Good cartoon as well.

Love the cartoon. Milk price better than today's when one considers the costs today. If the Journal won't publish the Farm Indo will. Sorry no media contacts in my sphere

Your sure right about the milk price. We're dealing with a milk price that hasn't changed much in 30 years. But at least it's good to see it starting to pick up a bit for this year.

Every Co-Op wants to bost about having the best milk price. Nothing would shock me anymore.

The parlour I have, meters all milkings every day. The meters are Icar approved meters, so should be fairly accurate. The collections are always between 3 and 6 percent less than the parlour readings. Never once has the collection exceeded the parlour readings. Probably would be impossible to prove though.
