    Hi
There is a strange noise coming from my car when the clutch is pressed and I'm in either in 1st or 2nd gear.
Very hard to describe the noise. Its not a grinding/screaching noise. Its not a 'rev' sound. Its not a grating sound. Its also not very loud but there is a noise there. Sorry I can't describ eexactly what it's like.

When in 3rd, 4th or 5th gear there is no noise at all when the clutch is pressed.

Car is still under warranty but the dealer is a bit of a drive away and I'm just wondering if any of you would have a clue what may be causing this?

Low mileage on the car too. Less than 35,000km
    Thanks

Why would there be a noise in first/second gear and not in the others?
    (no idea about cars)

It's probably there in other gears but road, engine noise drowning out the sound. My guess would be a bearing in the gearbox, meaning it would have to be removed from the engine or it could be just low gearbox oil. These type of noises get progressivly worse with time. So best to get it diagnosed by a qualified mechanic. It doesn't have to be a main dealer any good independent garage will be able to check it for you.

If it sounds like a low whirring noise when depressing the clutch, its possibly the clutch release bearing

Record the sound with your phone and put it up here

Cheers. Probably best to go get it checked tomorrow.

My money is on release bearing..if you let the car idle in neutral a press clutch does the noise stop?
