A friend of a friend played the saxaphone for 30 mins when he came back and found his car clamped, and needed to raise the money.

    Didn't work.

Bring glue the next time and glue it on.The clamp i bet costs more then 120e so a bit of payback will be in order and if they have to cut it off and do a bit of damage to the car i wonder what would happen ;)

I've always found parking as far onto the path as much as possible prevents me being clamped. I'm talking 4 wheels on the path. They can't clamp then, as the NCPS only have power on the roads, not the path.

You are allowed a certain amount of time to get a ticket. If they clamped you after 4 mins then appeal it or take them to small claims court.

Are you sure it was only 4 mins?

To hell with the immigrant/traveller/abortion/gay marriage/English/government/junkie threads, nothing brings out the knives in AH like a driver whinging about getting a fine for breaking the rules.

I thought shops allowed customers to park for a certain length of time. Majority of people say it was just a few minutes but it's usually longer.
I would never take the chance of leaving my car without a ticket where clamping is in place.

Old Irish syndrome let you down, I'm afraid.

The auld 'Ah shure attitude' Ah shure I'm only here for 5 mins no need to bother and" Ah shure they'll let me off any if I come the 'old soldier''

Doesn't impress the clampers and rightly so.

pay up my friend, and learn your lesson.

Theres a handy device that stops it in the first place. Its metal, round, about an inch across and can be exchanged for a ticket that lets you park when your a guest on someone elses property.

You know parking on a path is illegal? A gard or a parking warden can ticket you ( and hopefully will)

He didnt pay this time, thats why he was clamped.

The auld Irish - "You probably deserved it" attitude that saw kids beaten, (and worse) in schools for years, and the "just pay it" attitude that saw people get ripped off for everything in this country, from houses to wheel clamps.

It doesn't change the fact that private clamping remains illegal.

    Angle Grinder in the boot.

    Park anywhere.

Ballyfermot is a bad place for it too. It's technically pay and display, but I've never seen anyone pay. They just nip into the newsagents and out again thirty seconds later.

"Clamp ahead ye little b0llix, I'll cut it off and ram it through your windscreen".
    -friend of mine to clamper.

    He didn't clamp it.:(

I was mildly dissapointed. I've never seen a clamp go through a windscreen. I think they prefer clamping nice peoples cars.

It gives these types a trill, Getting off on rules and regulations.

I'v noticed the clampers there tend not to bother vans or cars that would appear to belong to members of a certain ethnic group..:pac:

Clampers are worthless human beings. Imagine, people on the way home from work, stopping to buy an item or two from a spar or whatever and these little cretins just lurking and waiting to pounce.

If I had weeks or days left to live I'd attempt to take as many of the fcukers down with me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 129 ✭✭AnarchistKen

Cut the clamp off. There's such things called battery operated angle grinder.

I'd cut if off in full view of the clamper and leave it beside his car. They might try threats of criminal damage but no judge in this country has the time or patience to hear such a case.

Remember to cover the car from splash backs of sparks coming off the cutting disc!

Maybe it was, you are quite right there.

However, things change and as pressure for space in towns and urban areas increases,I'm afraid so must the rules.

these rules are fashioned for the greater good and fairness of those using the facilities and unfortunately won't work unless they are enforced.
