Clamping in Dublin City

Is the clamping of cars in Dublin City not now run by a 'Private' company trading for profit? the clampers get e7.50 for every clamp they put on and have to remove

I know of nearly 10 people personally who have removed "DCC" clamps without damaging them as they were not put on correctly and most of them were returned to the clampers with zero follow up by "DCC" which leads me to believe we are having the wool pulled over our eyes and "DCC" are not responsible anymore because its a private company..

    any thoughts?

A DCC parking fine is legal regardless of whether or not you take off the clamp or not. I dont beleive for a second that you know that many people who have gotten council parking fines that werent followed up on when they werent paid.

I found out after I got clamped, you can take the disc down to the Wood Quay offices and they will photocopy it and stamp the copy, so it can be displayed in the interim period.

However the DCC website makes no reference to this process,

If that's the case I'd be appealing it and providing your still valid disc from your old car + the details of whoever told you the above/ did this in their own offices as evidence

Is this a question or a statement? Both? Neither?

I think the question is obvious from the question mark at the ned of my question, is it not??

The first part is phrased like a question but how would he be able to make the statement that follows it if he didn't know? Likewise how would he know a company is being paid 7.50 a clamp if he doesn't even know that a company is doing the work?

a company is being paid 7.50 a clamp

OP needs to supply a source. It's like saying the Gardai get a bonus for each ticket. Utter BS. Also at €7.50 a clamp they would be out of business pretty quick as even if you hit 100 cars a day every day, your revenue for the year would only be €273,750 before actually paying your staff. So if they are being paid then it would have to be a lot more.

I got clamped near the wax museum. Appealed it and got the money back. The clampers arrived in the biggest 6 litre + American pick up truck. Who funds the company?

That sounds like a large tow / recovery company that have one large base in Kilmacanogue. They have the contract to An Garda as far as I'm aware.

I'm sure if you Google hard enough in Dublin Co.Co. you'll find a tender document or process.
