This is normal, proceed - it only validates your product key with Microsoft.

Sorry m8. I though that "nice" individual got back in to our circles. My bad.

As for your solution. do what it asks you. I presume its one time thing where it does want you to register your CD key online.

Cmd as admin "slmgr /dlv" no quotes this will return your licence status.

Right click on my computer, hit properties. There's an activate button at the bottom iirc :)

    Hi Guys,

I was messing around with laptop and deleted a user account and changed remaining one from administrator to standard. Now it won't allow me to change user account type. And even if I try to do system restore it asks for the administrator password but the option for yes is greyed out. Help!!!!

    Cheers:)

if i understand correctly, you dont have the admin password?

go to www.pcloginnow.com/, hit the download exe, it'll self extract to an ISO file. burn that to disk or USB and boot into it. its pretty self explanatory from there. select the user you want to alter, tick the admin box, untick the password box and hit next. once you're happy, boot back into windows and all should be good.

    Hi,

I do have password but when I try to change users details it asks for permission from administrator (as in password I presume) but unable to as the 'yes' option to continue is greyed out

grand. that program i linked to is exactly what you need then. if you have a windows CD handy you could use that too but it requires some cmd work.

Didn't want to make another windows 8 thread since this one is active, I'm just wondering is this version of windows 8 on argos 64bit and can it be used on a new build?

As far as I know a 32-bit key will work to activate a 64-bit version of Windows 8, so even if it turns out not to be 64-bit it doesn't really matter.

And yes, any copy of windows that you buy seperately can be used on a new build.

I think I'll be buying that from there then since its the cheapest I've found so far
