TR1 form - very confused

    Hi,

I did some temping work (not through an agency, independantly) for a few weeks over Christmas. Legally speaking I was not an employee of the company I did the work for, and I signed a waiver that made me responible for my own tax.

I take it I need to fill out a TR1 form - what confuses me here are sections A3 and A4, as I don't actually run a business, and I'm not sure what legal format (number 20 on the form) to tick, nor do I have a business address, type of business etc...

I presume I don't need to fill out sections B-E?

I'm really confused about this. To confuse matters more, I'm now going into a normal job where I will be taxed PRSI as normal, so I'm not sure whether to give them the P45 from the job I had prior to the temping work, or if I need something else.

I haven't sent in the TR1 form yet, even though the temping work is finished. Not out of any desire to evade tax but I'm still trying to figure out how I'm suppose to fill it. Have contacted the tax office a few times but there answer was very unclear. Would really appreciate it if anyone knows what to do.

    Thanks.

Was your P45 from employment in 2012?
Did you earn less then about 3k temping

If Yes to both, just file a form 12 for 2012

No need for a TR1 in this case

as your P45 is from last year, it's no good for your current job anyway. You could get your employers tax reg no and call revenue with it
