    Hi all,

I have not got my P60 yet for 2012. I know I am due money back in health expenses but I had a look at Taxcalc.eu and put in my tax, usc etc info and it suggested that I had overpaid tax by quite a bit last year. Are there any other similar websites that I could check to get a second opinion while I wait for the P60? Thanks

I'm interested in replies to this too. My first job (6 month contract) ended a couple of months ago and I'd like to find out what tax refunds I can get. I have a full medical card so I know the USC should be owed back to me. But info on the best way to find out definitely (phone, internet) would be much appreciated.

you can do a rough calculation your self on the tax refund on medical expenses. If you assume you tax is paid correctly for the year then add up the expenses (assuming you didn't get any money back on them from vhi etc) then multiply this figure by 20% (the standard tax rate). This will give you the amount you should get back as long as when you look at your p60 that the amount of tax you paid in 2012 is more than this figure.

Of course this only gives you the medical expense refund and assumes you taxes are all correct otherwise but it will give you an approximation on the medical alone. Course if you have any adjustments (such as other income, bin charge etc) then the actual figure you get back could be more or less
