    Hello there
I would like some information regarding my Gas Central heating.
My last bill was 63 euro and the current bill is 156euro yet I havent used anymore heating.
My question is this does turning of the radiators in unused rooms save you much on fuel costs.
Or is it the same . Someone told me that if you turn the thermostat down you would save money instead of turning off radiators.
Also by turning off radiators you get airlocks when you turn them all back on.
I would appreciate any information regarding this .
    Thanks
    Linda

Turning off rads will use less energy (i.e. gas).

I don't use my central heating much, it's the stove I use, but when I do, I'm always turning the rads on and off all over the place, apart from the chance of a few drops leaking out if I open them all the way, I've never experienced air locks through it.

Turning down your thermostat will also use less energy, doing both will save you even more!

the reason for the difference in your two heating bills is the outside temp . you are running the heating for the same amount of time but it uses more gas to keep the house warm . this is because as it gets colder in winter your house loses more heat to the outside. the only solution to this is to improve your insulation levels .

colder house = boiler is cutting out less and uses more gas

Is it your house, or are you renting? If it's your house, what insulation does it have? Any in the attic, on the external walls, etc? A short-term investment in insulation would provide long-term savings in gas.
