    Hi
I just got a puncture and there is a small screw at the side of the tyre. I dropped into a tyre place and they said it is unrepairable because it is on the sidewall. Its only a few weeks old and cost me 90 euro , is this correct. I haven't a clue about tyres but just wanted to put it out there. If I need a new tyre well then so be it :) I have included a photo if anyone could take a look and tell me if I need a new one or not. Thanks in advance

Where you living if you don't mind me asking.

Had a few repairs needed lately due to screws in my tyres. Repair place told me I was lucky that it was on top and not in sidewall as they wouldn't repair sidewall damage.

you can not repair a side wall of a tyre on a road going vehicle.

Its in the thread not the sidewall. You can use a patch to repair that

^^^ What he just said....go to another tyre place and get the puncture fixed, it's not on the sidewall so it's just a simple puncture repair.

And avoid the 1st place in future.

It's true that you can't repair a sidewall but that is on the thread, just about!, but sufficient to be repairable. I'd say they wanted to sell a new tyre.

By industry standards, that tyre is not repairable, so the tyre center was correct. That area of the tyre flexes with the sidewall so an internal patch can easily come off over time. Also, when a screw goes into the tyre in that position, its likely that the screw will have damaged the inside of the tyre wall, especially if the tyre was run with low pressure.

The op said it was in the side wall of the tyre. SO the tyre is unrepairable (Legally)
