Cleat Problem!

So I decided to buy a pair of Diadora Proracer 2 Road Shoes 2012 and Shimano M520 SPD Pedals as the shoes were listed as being used with SPD Clipless pedals. I have a bit of a problem as the cleats won't fit the shoes :o The problem is that the bolt holes in the sole of the shoe are futher apart than the cleat.

Can I buy another set of larger cleats or do I need a different set of pedals like SPD-SL?

    Thanks in advance!

I just Googled the shoes - some seem to come in SPD SL and SPD while others are SPD SL only. You appear to have the latter with SPD pedals.

You need to check the soles when buying online. SPD SL will have 3 holes only and no channels for SPD cleats.

If you wish to have SPD's, you're better with the proper SPD shoes with recessed cleats.

Thanks for the information. I have the SPD-SL version it seems:pac:
Looks like I'll have to send pack the pedals and get the SL version. Was really hoping to get to use the shoes this weekend, but I guess not :o

They are cheaper (OK by €1) on CRC but you will have them quicker...

Did you want SPD pedals, or SPD-SL pedals?
If you wanted SPD's, send the shoes back!!

SPD's are usually for mountain bikes.
I find them much easier to get in and out of than SPD-SL, this is a consideration if u are commuting and doing a lot of stopping and starting on the bike.

I find spd sl much easier to clip in and out of than just spd. Would never go back to spd except for the mtb, FWIW.

I had wanted SPD due to the double sided aspect, but I don't really commute so I guess it wasn't really needed. I have a pair of SPD-SL on the way now. Having to wait until next week until I can use the shoe is the only thing annoying me that being honest! Thanks again for the help. :D
