renew old learner permit?

My learner permit expired a year or 2 ago, no idea where it is either. Can I renew it at this stage or do i have to sit the theory test again?

EDIT: also i received my first permit before 4 April 2011, so would I have to sit the 12 mandatory classes no?

Get in contact with your Motor Tax Office that issued it and see can you get the Driving Licence no. If you can there's a possibility to renew. If not you're looking at starting again and doing EDT

You have 5 years to renew it. Go to your local tax office and ask for a form stating that you lost your previous license, go to the Garda station and get it signed and stamped bring it back along with a completed learner permit renewal form and some pics and you should be good to go,

Thanks guys, is there any restriction on getting it in a different county do you know? I'll contact the previous one looking for info thanks.

Use the D8a form here. Then you can renew your old licence. The change of location should not be an issue in a postal format.
