Hey folks. I know this is a common topic here but I'm finding it difficult to figure out if I'm entitled to anything. Just one quick question. I'm a waiter and my hours have been reduced. I work thurs - sun inclusive now and making rent is becoming difficult on minimum wage. Just want to know if I may be entitled to any assistance before I head to the welfare office for a full assessment. Does working 4 days preclude me? I heard the fact that one of my working days is a Sunday might change things. Cheers.

How many hours do you get altogether for the four days? As far i know now i could be wrong but it might depend how many hours you work a week, if you work over a certain amount you are not entitled to anything but if you work under it you might get something...

It is based on the number of days you. Currently Sunday is no counted as a day of employment so you would qualify based on 3 days plus a Sunday. But fomr 21st February Sunday will be taken into account and 4 days work is considereed full time work.

How may hours are you workng? Is FIS an option, you would have to have dependent children for this to work.

Cheers Sue. I'm currently working between 20 and 25 hours per week over those 4 days. Very occasionally I might manage to get 30 hours. I have no dependent children and definitely can't afford to lose Sunday. So does that mean I'm out of luck?

Once Sunday becomes a working day, I'm afraid so. Unless you can do your hours over 3 days. Sorry I don't have better news. You could apply now and get a few weeks and any week you don't get the 4th day you could get a top up.
