    Hi All.

    Posting for a friend here.

I have a friend who is booked for her test tomorrow, she's just dug out her license and it's expired since December, will they check this? or gloss over it?

Can she rebook at short notice?

Its the first thing they will check. She wont be taken out. Unfortunately, she has also lost the fee she paid. Only option now is to renew the permit and apply for a cancellation.

if she shows that she's submitted an application for a new license and its being processed could they allow that ?

No. She is not currently in possession of a valid Learner Permit. She shouldn't be driving at all, let alone sitting a test. Proof of application will not change this. She must have the permit in hand in order to sit the test.

    Thanks for all your help.

She's said she is going to go up and see what happens, hopefully they overlook that its out of date (Chances of that ) I told her to just rebook but hey, what can you do.

Tell her to go down to her local office and explain the situation.. But go down now. Same thing happened to my brother and they issued him a renewal on the spot

She can get caught for driving without a licence going to or from the test centre! And presumably also unaccompanied. It could be a very expensive futile trip for her.

She rang up, they cancelled on short notice but rescheduled so she didn't lose the fee, crisis averted.

unfortunately with the new credit card type licence they can't issue new licences on the spot anymore. everything goes through Dublin. just waited 2 weeks for son's learner permit to come. he was raging -dying to get on the road. The new ones do look good though.
