    Hi All,

I might have this right but just trying to pick holes in it before I go ahead with it. It may be a question for a microsoft forum

Our company acquired a small depot in eastern europe. They have their own exchange server. But we want them to work off our exchange server now and move their mailboxes onto our server.

    What im thinking is....

redirect their current email address to their new one from our company
export their current mailbox to pst
    make a copy of it
    remove the current outlook account
add an account that uses our exchange webmail address
    import old mail
    done

Any opinions on this would be great, as you can see it's going to be a bit of a pain!

Ask yourself first "WHY" and then "HOW" !!! :)

Why are trying to move them from local office Exchange server !?

How many users over there ?
Is there are MDs or just normal staff ?
What size do they mailboxes have?
Do they have local backups ?
Are they in a domain configuration ?
Have considered AD replication for Outlook or all goes web based OWA ??
What are you going to do with their current server ?

What's the broadband connection speed and reliability there and here ?
Are they prepared to give out the comfort of Outlook and to use OWA (exchange Webmail address)
Do you have a SSL in place for OWA ?
Is that HTTPS or VPN access ?

How many users in your office,do you need to buy additional CALs ?
Will your backup cover the additional backup / recovery ... size / time ?
What is your current mdb file size ?
Do you need to upgrade Exchange from Standard to Ent due to limits in mdb ?

Do you have to change MX records ?
Are they prepared to change the email address domain and all related headed papers, emails, signatures,CRM and so on !?

Can you give them local access rather than going all the way here ?
Can you create a connector and use both Exchange servers ?
Just re setup / reconfigure local exchange there as a partner of your office server here .

What if the connection drops and they cannot access web based email !??
    Playing games...

    Have fun...

    Hi Rosin,
An understanding with process of moving mailboxes on different exchange server can help regarding your scheduled plan. Read a beneficial post in this context at : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/da-DK/exchangesvrgeneral/thread/7ae5f9af-09b2-4441-a1a0-833b53f09864

    hi jane,

it worked out fine using these steps

    export mail to pst
add a new outlook profile that uses our own exchange servers proxy settings
    set profile as default
open this profile and import the pst
redirect his/her old email address to new one

    works fine!
