bmw 3 Series GT revealed

I just don't see the sense in this at all. Was there really a gap to be filled between the 3-series and 5-series?

My guess is we will see a handful on our roads. 98% of them will be 2.0L Diesels, which will leave the other two registered cars with no other option than 2.0L Petrols :pac:

I'm not liking it all that much. It looks smart but I would much rather a decent spec F30 or an stretch to an F10 if I needed something with more room.

    Manky and pointless.

When they say GT, they mean fat hatchback, right?

I don't get this GT thing at all, if you need more boot space, get a Touring, if you don't, get a saloon.

I'll be happy when they make a BMW X6 GT M , it'll be the ultimate testament to my masculinity :D

I don't think this is so much a 3-5 gap filler, as a three series with a decent boot.

Tough one to get the styling right on and I'm not sure they've been successful.

Tourings aren't everyone's cup of tea - bit of a middle class, middle age image to them.

If I was given one for free I'd be chuffed.

Is that a step down, or a step up for the average modern Irish BMW owner?
And what does this yoke say about you - bad taste and indecisive?
Dunno where the market is for these, estates are perfectly acceptable and popular in Europe - is it for a more american and Country&Irish market?

It says gangstaness of the saloon, but with practicality of the estate.

I mean seriously man, if you have to ask...

I'm slap bang in those demographics, no wonder I like them!

BMW have too many niches imo and are somewhat ruining their heritage in respect of what they were until the naughties when they kept bringing out more and more models. Or maybe its a sign of the time but I'm not liking it!

The Maserati Granturismo is a GT: this is a hatchback.

Haha it says "couldn't choose between 2 decent cars, chose a bad mishmash of the 2 due to terrible insecurity about driving an estate"

Nah, for gangstaness you need the convertible.Just notice a druggie type M3 parked up the road this morning.

Wasn't being serious. The 3 series is about as gangsta as this guy:

So BMW have decided to take on the Mondeo hatch now huh? :pac:

I can see where the gap in the market is but the styling is all wrong at the back.

The convertible M3 is considered the druggie choice in these parts. Small engine 3s driven by young Asian women and 1s driven by Asian woman with veils, age unknown.

I don't like the name GT but I reckon it looks great. I would have one over a 3 series salon.

It's marginally less gammy than driving a mobile salon. Close call, but I think in that case the GT would win out for me alright.

A 3 series would be tiny for a salon (not that I'd be an expert), I'd say you be restricting yourself to very small jobs.

I think a lot of people who like it won't like the name GT. "one of them boy racer yokes", "named after the computer game is it, gran turismo?"

It looks like the 530d GT from 2 years ago.

BMW had great looking cars in the 70's and 80's, but since then they seem to have lost it. They still make some fab cars.

    Whats next?
