was working fine but then started making a strange noise earlier tonight so I switched it off to be on the safe side.
I then got a strong burning smell and the kitchen lights tripped.

I tried firing it up a while after but no joy.

It's about 10 years old and has been regularly serviced.
Make and model is Baxi Solo 3 PFL50

    Any ideas?

Get a good RGI to look at it. How long does your guy take to service it normally?

What's happening when you try to turn it on

    Thanks for the replies

Just opened it up and a couple of resisters are burned out on the pcb,
the circuit is fairly damaged so a replacement is required.

I could pick up and replace this myself but what are the chances there is a problem elsewhere that caused this?
Don't want to shell out 200eur for new board and it immediately blows again.

In regards previous servicing time, fella would take about 20 minutes or so

I'm sure you know this already , it is illegal for you to work on a gas appliance , whether or not it is your own property or someone else's , it doesn't matter if you are touching the gas supply or just the electrics within the appliance , you need an rgi to replace the board and find out what caused it to blow , he will issue you with a cert 3 stating that it is now repaired and safe to use , chances are if you fit a new board it will blow again , something caused it to blow , as I said more than likely the pump or fan .
Oh and you can't service a boiler in 20 mins !!

Yeah that's exactly it, quick test and hoover job for 80eur.

We've had it done from a couple of contractors down the years and they both did it this way. Robbers
