    Hi - does any work only weekends???

    I am currently unemployed, but have been offered work on saturdays & sundays by a recruitment agency.

    I found the following info on welfare.ie ;

    11. I am a casual or part-time worker and I work on Sundays; how does this change affect me?

    Sunday work is not counted for jobseeker's benefit. This change only affects other days of the week in which you work. In other words, if you only work on Sundays, you are getting full-rate jobseeker's benefit and will continue to do so. If you also work other days in the week, then you will be affected by this change and your weekly payment will be reduced – see the table at the end of this document for more details.
    12. I am a casual or part-time worker and I usually work Saturdays; how does this change affect me?

    Your weekly payment will be reduced– see the table at the end of this document for more details.

    so, going by this, if i did work sat & sundays, my job seekers benefit would change from 6 day payment of 188, down to 5 days payment 150.44 ???

    full link;

    any help? thanks?

    If you are on benefit it is based on a 5 day week you would be paid €37.60 a day for 4 days, that is €150.40.
    From 22 February Sunday will be counted as a work day. So if you work Saturday and Subday you will loose 2 days and get €112.80.

    When on Jobseekers Allowance what you earn per day will determine your rate if pay, Sundays will count as a work day from 21st February.

    I never really understood the part-time job thing, so basically depending on what part-time days and hours you work; - you may not even get up to the standard €188 that you would get if ya just stayed on JSA / JSB? Is that how it goes? And is there a standardised set fixed table of what hours pays what amount somewhere on the Welfare Website? Or how is it worked out? 30 hours of work or more is considered Full-time isn't it? Sorry for all the questions.

    On JSB you loose 1/5th per day worked.
    On JSA what you get depends on what you earn, this is a means assessed claim. If you we're to earn €60 per day the first €20 is disregarded and the you loose 60% of the balance, 60- 20*60%=24. So for each day you work you will loose €24. Once you work 4 days this is considered full time employment and you will receive no pay. If you worked 3 days you would get €188- (24*3) = €116.

    If you are long term unemployed (15 months or more) The Part Time Job Incentive scheme may be a better option. Work up 24 hours per week, earn any amount and get a 119 euro (single rate) or 193.90 euro (couple rate) payment off the DSP. Keep your medical card, and you can also apply for FIS

    thanks sue, regards sundays changing to count as a work day, i cant find any info on welfare.ie about this. can u provide a link? thanks:)

    i found the following on http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/social_welfare/social_welfare_payments/unemployed_people/jobseekers_benefit.html

    Work on a Sunday will be taken into account when assessing the number of days for which you are unemployed in any week. This provision is due to take effect in 2013 but the date has not been fixed. When this provision comes into effect, you must have suffered a substantial loss of employment (defined as at least 1 day of insurable employment) in any period of 7 consecutive days (instead of 6 at present) to qualify for a jobseeker’s payment. A person must also be fully unemployed for at least 4 days in any period of 7 consecutive days.

    So confusing, i will try to contact the social welfare office tomorrow to find out.
