bought a new set of mavic krysium equipe s wheels yesterday. there is some play in the wheel bearings/axles , both front and rear. i thought it was only the front , but notice now its in the rear also

is this normal or do i need bring them back to have them adjusted ?

I would have expected to have wheels fully functional without having to bring them back where i bought them

Normal for mavic's in my experience when they have the user adjustable bearing load.

Did you get a funny little plastic tool that looks like a little spanner?

You can tighten them up yourself to remove play but before you restrict bearing movement.

i dident get any tool with the wheels. the play is very little but still there  . i had cosmic elites before and they were perfect, no play whatsoever.

just checked the wheels there now, the play is magnified when you catch the outside of the rim..... so im sure its there....... it could be there from the factory.....just dont know really. they have cartiadge bearings as per mavics website

im not totally convinced that the shop i got them in know what to do with them.

the box they came in was unbranded....... i would have thought the mavic logos would be all over them

I have the Elites and Equipes. The Equipes should really be branded Aksium Plus! Only a slightly different, lighter hub, apart from that they're Aksiums!

If you can maybe change them for the Elites where you bought them? Better value long term. Stronger rim, adjustable bearings, non corroding spokes and lighter of course. The German sites do good deals on these wheels if you can get your money back on the Equipes.

edit: To answer your question. There is no option to adjust the bearings on the Equipes without actually replacing them.
