I went and looked at a car the other evening, the owner said it was his fathers and he has just transferred it into his own name before selling it on....i put €100 deposit on it and he gave me the Registration Cert.....

    This is it...

    I also found this...

To me they look the same car, with a few wee modifications....

    Thoughts?

Who in their right mind would put the car in their own name before selling it for your dad!?

He's a seller trying to pull a fast one. Doesn't mean the car is bad, but keep your eyes open!

It is the same ad, just the older ad makes it look a pile o s**** with the stupid exhaust and illegal no plates which makes me think a boy racer has ragged it so he probably got no calls and then put up the second ad, in which the van looks more presentable. Probably cost him €200 to do the changes which he decided to add to the asking price! As for changing names its a stupid excuse. I'd walk.

It's looks to be the same car. The tax disc holder is the same even. Looks like he just changed the plates and exhaust, which wouldn't make much sense if he was going to sell it anyway.

Maybe he knocked the price down a bit, tidied it up a little, and is now making a small profit?

They are both Vauxhall which means its more rare than an Opel, they have the same year, same first letter on the county and same wheels. Chances are its the same car.

Wording style is similar in the ads too.

The 21 day old ad the car is badged and has a stupidly big exhaust where the 1 day old ad is debadged and has a regular exhaust which might mean they are different cars.

Adding an extra owner with the name change is odd.

Looks to me like he bought it, name changed it took all the crap off it. and sold it on for profit.

Doing nothing wrong, but just be careful its all in order and the mileage etc matches.

Are they dents or reflections on the tailgate?
The rear bumper had a knock on the right hand side.

That van looked abit rough. But if you could find a clean one they are nice and I have the 1.3cdti in my astra. It's a good engine once they are serviced with 5w30 fully synthetic Opel spec oil. People seem to have a tendency to throw in 10w40 oil as its cheaper and it ruins the engine. They are a seriously sensitive engine when it comes to oil. I know that is the case for the astra version and I assume the corsa takes the same oil you'd have to check. Did you have alook at any 1.3cdti astra vans I have one and i am happy with it and it does 52mpg with fairly mixed driving.

On the doe, the name of the owner seems to be mc donagh, the test looks to have been done in November. Is that the same surname as the current seller?

They also give DMF issues which is expensive to put right.
