Foot Pain, need advice

Hi, I've been training for the Tralee marathon in 5-6 weeks and did my 18 mile last Sunday. I have new runners a while now but it's the first time I wore them with a pair of socks that are dual layered to help with blisters. Anyway during the run when my feet expanded the pressure on the top of my foot became unbearable so I stopped and loosened the laces. It helped, still a bit of discomfort for the rest of the run but it was ok. Problem is, it still hurts when I lift my toes. Just cycled until today and tried a run this morning, it hurt straight away. Not the type of pain I couldn't run through, but I stopped and came back.

So basically I can walk no problem with no pain. I get some pain at rest when I lift my toes, especially the big toe and especially when wearing runners or tighter shoes. When I stopped my run this morning I was going to head for an Xray as I am paranoid this is a stress fracture, but I have read they can be very difficult to diagnose.

I am really concerned that this is a stress fracture. Has this happened to anybody before? Should I go get an XRay? Any advice much appreciated.

    Thanks

We do not give out medical advice. Injuries may have common symptoms but are unique to the individual - just because you were able to keep training with X injury or were out for months because of Y doesn't mean that the same will apply to someone else. Bad advice given here and followed through could aggravate an injury and prevent an athlete making a full recovery in as rapid a time as possible. This restriction is Boards-wide and purposely heavy-handed. So don't feel offended if your thread about a sprained ankle (which you may deem "non-medical") gets locked.
