    Hi All

Just wondering if there is anyone out there that commutes from kells to dublin city centre daily? Im currently living in blanchardstown and want to move outside of Dublin. I have viewed a house in kells and am very interested but the only thing holding me back is the commute. I have read posts online about this but they all date back to 2004/5 before the M3 was built. I start work at 8 everyday, so Im assuming I would be missing the 'rush hour traffic' at the hour Id be leaving? Can anyone shed some light please :D

    Thanks!

Would you be driving or using public transport?

If the latter, try this for your options www.a-b.ie

You might get more local info in the meath forum

I commute Kells - Swords for an 8am start and himself does Kells-City Centre (when he's in the office) for a 9am start. What do you want to know?

Leaving Kells at 7am will take about 35-40 minutes to get to Blanch bypass/M50 using the express lanes for both tolls. Traffic is pretty light at that time and the N3 is nowhere near as bad as it used to be thankfully. My OH leaves around 7:30 and it'll take him approx another 30-40 minutes from the N3/M50 queue to get into the quays for a 9am start, traffic dependent obviously. Outside of rush hour you'll do city centre - Kells in less than an hour.

It's an awful boring run in and out these days, it's great :)

Yep thats what I wanted to hear :p haha! I was really curios as to how long it would take as I dont want to be spending a huge chunk of my day in traffic! As it is it takes me just under an hour to get from blanch to city centre. Granted I would have to be leavin Kells a little earlier then I would leave blanch but its not goin to make much of a difference to my day...Thanks for that :)

Surely if you shared the driving and put him on an express bus from Swords / the airport, it would be much cheaper and less stress? :) The bus fare would be cheaper than the tolls, nevermind the fuel and cars.

His current job has a lot of travel so he has a company car & expenses. I prefer car sharing personally (so I can sleep on the way in, ha) and would do it again if he ever changed jobs.

We used to commute in together and he'd get a train in from the N3 and back out again in the evening. I spent an hour sitting in that car park every evening for over a year, got caught up on a lot of reading :)
