Hey Lapin, thanks for posting in my thread (and saving me the embarrassment of watching the thread sink) :D

I always find it ridiculous how they expect FG to apologise for the actions of other (mostly FF) Governments, yet they are not allowed to blame FF for the economic crisis...

They spend way too much time on Primetime/Frontline showing little films to give background to the story that end up running for ten minutes and putting a human interest angle on it by interviewing Joe Soap.

Love the way Pat continues to warn the audience this guy's solution might be a bit facile.

    Pat knows his stuff.

hmmm, not sure what to take from the show apart from the fact that Kathleen Lynch used the word "fulsome" excessively like Roy Keane did with "obviously"

Do Cork people have comfort words or something or are they just insecure about the size of their vocabularies?

I was begging her to just use the word "complete".

No prob JA ! Just as I well before got in before my house was plunged into darkness with a power cut !

Missed the cute girl though. Anyone find out since who she is?

Lights, tv and web came back on just as Donegal man was talking in the audience.

I think Hans will need a translated transcript to read on his way home.

The german economist was saying what many of us have always thought that the bondholders need to be burned.
But I got the impression from Pat that he doesn't approve

Pat had to explain to the audience that the professor was talking about German tax payers. Something that Irish people never seem to think about.
Even without bank debt we still have an 18 billion deficit. Where do we get that money if we default? Why would a German tax payer give it us to pay our public servants more than he is earning?

I'd say though that she could be a tough feminist who blathers on about the male gaze and objectification and all that stuff - you know one of these over-educated types with too much time on their hands looking for a cause i.e. i can't imagine a laidback evening full of wit and banter with you both skinning pints - in fact i would expect instead a tortuous evening with you being lectured about the sins and failings of your country-men and gender over mineral waters and then perhaps a pager going off and to your intense relief she's away to work on some obscure case where some obscure minority is demanding obscene amounts of compensation cash from you, the taxpayer, for something that happened before you were born and which was carried out by people you have no connection with........or maybe I am reading too much into this

That's what happens when you live in an american football stadium.

Poor old Hans will be sitting on the plane home wondering,

"Vot in ze fuch est der 'wain' ?" :pac:

No, we don't. You're thinking of about 2 years ago. The deficit that the country is aiming for this year is about 8 billion and about half of that is interest payments. If we didn't have so much debt hanging over us, the deficit would be just about manageable, thats what the german lad was getting at but Plank Kenny kept interrupting him.
