Payment deduction

    Hi everyone,

My girlfriend has been getting JA. She has worked one week while getting JA and she told the officer about that and they have sent us a letter stating that she has to payback the 188 for that week when she got some work. That is understandable.

They asked that she repays the amount of 10 euro per week. We expected that to be deducted from her payment, but instead only 1,64 she beed deducted from her payment this week.

Anyone knows what the story is? Is that like interests and we have to pay them back via bank transfer (there were their bank details attached to the letter).

    Thanks.

I received one of these letters too - did she sign the form agreeing for the deduction. No interest is charged. The payment is taken directly from your social welfare payment and not through the bank... unless it has previously been agreed.

Depending on when she signed the form it looks like they only took 1/6 th of the €10 being that there was only 1 day left in the week when she agreed to the overpayment. It should be €10 from the next full week. As stated above there would be no interest payment.
