Seen a sign in Monaghan motors in Galway to so I rang them.

Timing belt change with water pump for €350 VAT included.

Seems like a great price from a reputable dealer .

Note that the car is a VW Touran.

Deal ends end of Feb. Any thoughts on the price,

    Thanks

I got my VW Passat done locally recently. I bought the kit (with pump) for €175. He charged €100 labour. He's a reputable mechanic but not main dealer. Worked for me. Tipperary BTW

    What engine is in it?
Can't really see how anyone can be impressed or otherwise with the price without knowing that :)

    Does that matter?

Not imo, they'll be well used to the 1.9 engine anyway :)
Once they're using good quality bits and stand over their work.

It does IMO as if they are a skoda dealer they will almost certainly use genuine vw parts as vw and skoda are both part of the same company.

Well yeah, if they're skoda dealers and authorised repairers for vw then they'll know their way around a touran and won't be getting their timing belts in tesco

I'd imagine so but I'm sure they're lovely on the phone :)

Sounds good. I was quoted approx €390 from my usual indie mechanic who are generally very good and reasonable. If the main dealer is doing it for an extra tenner then I might just get it done there. Not due for another couple of months though so will hold off.

VW service agents offer a 2 year warranty on the work also.

Why would you not just give your regular and trusted mechanic the business?

I'm not saying I won't but if the VW garage are giving a 2 year warranty on the work and doing it for the same price then that appears to be a better deal. In saying that, I don't know what kind of warrenty my regular mechanic has on offer so will find that out first.

In my case my mechanic is my neighbor, so if anything was to go wrong I won't want to have a dispute with him

One of the best VW/Audi specialists are based in Midleton. Autowerks.

Just google "autowerks cork". Lots of info on the VAG forums. If you're based in Cork city, then Midleton is closer than Fermoy. Only 15 minutes drive.

I wouldn't buy a wiper blade off Blackwater tbh.

That's very funny when people think if something in the car is done by dealer that must be good :D
