I was thinking if getting a 2010 diesel qashqai and was wondering what was people's experience of them?

Had a quick search but most of the 'opinion' threads were 2 years old, will be moving from a 08 zafira petrol but no longer need the bigger people carrier.

Got an 07 diesel,1.6d there ok relatively reliable so far - had wheel bearings replaced. seem to be a problem soo listen for a loud humming noise when going round bends during test drive - my gripe with them is that the finnish is not great - trim bits are stuck on... Internal trim is not much better very flimsey.Handling is not great due to the high centre of gravity but that can be expected from all suvs.

Make sure to test drive and listen out for that drone / hunming sound. its a 500 euro fix!

Other than that they are a nice comfortable car for the irish donkey tracks. Best of luck!!!

bottom rubbers on the rear shock mountings used go on them, not sure if thats been fixed on 2010 model onwards. timing belt kit including water pump is expensive enough from main dealer.

I had a 2010 +2 version, a little heavier but a similar (dull) driving experience. That year the 5-seater got a facelift (the 7-seater in 2011), I'd go for that one if given a choice (easiest way to tell - pre-facelift ones have a garish orange figures in the the instrument pod, post facelift have a nice clear black/white display). The facelift also has a few extra nooks and crannies for storage and better sound insulation from the engine etc, so I'd really recommend it over the original.
In terms of economy, I managed to consistently get 50+ MPG on motorway trips (between 110 and 120 km/h), the 5-seater is lighter so should do even better, around town for commuting etc I got about 35-40 (small trips, not great for the DPF).

Just traded our '10 reg in.
Had it over 2 years and it was fine.
No issues apart from an intercooler pipe that split which took 2 visits to a main dealer to resolve.

Describing it as dull is a fair comment but for those who are not motoring enthusiasts they are very good family car.

Very economical, reliable, comfortable, and well equipped.
    Residuals where also excellent.

Our old one is in Kia Liffey Valley, facelift model, 1 lady owner, had a very easy life ;). (I'm not affiliated with this garage, just giving the op a heads up as I don't think it's on carzone yet.)

What did they give for it when trading in?

Have a 10 one that I bought around six months ago. Its is the sve model and has better seating , reverse sensors and a few more bits. Got Full service history which is worthwhile nowadays. Like the car so far and drives well.;)

    16% depreciation over 27 months ;)

I have an '09 petrol. Probably one of the 'rattliest' cars I've ever owned, seems like a different one every month :(

Parents have an 08 5 seater and they love it. High driving position and easy to get in and out from the high seats suits them. 1.5 dsl has no dpf to worry about.
