Spotted second hand Dolan Hercules today, good condition, decent spec at reasonable price,
Looking for a sportive style bike for fitness etc,
Does anyone here know if the Hercules is more suited for Racing or Relaxed cycling.......

    From Dolan themselves...

Hercules sl This frame intended use is for the rider who needs mor size options as there are six sizes therefore giving more options on top tube lengths and head tubes heights for more comfortable riding options this is ideal for general riding and sportive although many people race on this model also . Also has the facility for electronic and traditional gearing systems.

I have one and have done a small number of races on it. I plan on racing on it this year.
That said I'd is reasonably flexy and I would suggest that the geometry is more relaxed than my other bikes. A grand bike for Irish roads.
If you can get it at a good price then go for it I would say.

Relaxed, really? I'm trying to grasp the differences between race and sportive geo, and thought a longer top tube and shorter top tube would be fairly racy? In both cases the hercules appears to fit this description.

Regardless or actual frame geometry can't one make it more/less racy/relaxed by adjusting the setup oneself?

Check out competitive cyclists bike fit app, you can set up the same bike 3 different ways on there. I'm pretty sure comfort is all about setup.

To the OP, I'd buy one if the money and spec right. What are they?

Of course, but frame wise I thought a longer top tube and shorter head tube would result in a racier position. Like I said, still trying to understand, so just asking....

I think you're right. I honestly don't think it's worth worrying about too much though. Within reason of course, some frames are just ****e.
