As far as I know it'll pass as long as it's working.

One of My mirrors is held on by some tape :o But it still passed a few weeks ago.

If the glass is cracked I'd imagine it will fail. Impaired vision and all that. You could stick it through and see as it will be a free visual inspection retest if it does fail.

    I'm afraid it'll be a problem...

As above, but it also leaves it open to interpretation. If the mirror is cracked, but the view is not impaired from it, you may actually get away with it. Unlikely, but possible...

Halfords do a standard replacement mirror glass . I think you can stick it on over the cracked one.http://www.halfords.ie/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_11101_catalogId_15551_productId_197291_langId_-1_categoryId_212357

any motor factors would have replacement glass way cheaper than dealer.

stick on over broken or mirror and backing

ford want 56 euro for a mirror glass, motor factors 15

+1 Put it in for the test as it is because even if it fails on the broken mirror, you can bring the car back in a week with the new mirror, the NCT guy will walk out and inspect it in the car park and pass you and that type of (visual) inspection is free.

You would be wasting money patching it up now if the replacement part is on the way.

    Depends on the tester's mood.

I'd a rear view mirror cracked, 1/5th of the glass was missing out of one end, but it was a big mirror and didn't hamper my view.

First test after it breaking I was advised to think about fixing it. So, I spent a couple of years thinking that over until he failed me on it next test :D
