Help-how to prevent air coming up through shower drains

With the recent windy weather, I have noticed serious drafts coming up through the shower drains. Has anyone else experienced this?

I can run the shower for a few mins and ths stops it, but it looks like there is no trap to hold water to stop air blowing in.

Its pretty annoying as we have a pretty good airtightness spec on the house and this bothers me!

    Any suggestions welcome:D

Is there a vent fitted at the end of the drainage run?

    Hey Victor,

The downstairs showers run to outside and turn down into a drain in footpath.
The upstairs drains turn down on the outside into a larger drain with a funnel type opening on the top.

Probably havent expained this well but maybe can post pics later to help expain

It is almost certain there is no trap installed . You need to fit one to the drain but freezing may be an issue . A dry inline may be a solution . It uses a diaphram rather than a p or s bend but is only 1 1/2 times the diameter of connecting pipe and since its dry it should not ice up and will look neat.100_2891.JPG

Thanks for that. Not really sure where that would be connected in. I should clarify that the house is finished so I can only really do something on the outside.

That why this unit might do , it is not affected by freezing conditions

ok, so would i just hook that on to the end of the drain where it empties into the drain in the path?

Would i pick these up in any hardware store?

Thanks for your help and sorry for all the questions
