    Hi does anyone know of a one year chef one could do and get some qualification? unemployed over 2 yrs and age 26 so if I could apply as a mature student it would be great. appreciate any advice

    Have you checked out Failte Ireland courses, not sure where you are, but they do courses in food preparation, basic enough course, but could help you then get into an IT to do a full course.

    Dit! A lot of my classmates are mature students. The ones with experience were able to join second year of the culinary arts degree. I dont know every detail about you, but I know they offer different level courses. Just contact them.

    hi also trying to change career but have a lump sum for training there is a course in England in tante marie and cordon bleau school for about 15k but don't know if they are worthwhile??? anyone know

    Perhaps try joining a kitchen as an apprentice first as no point spending money and you end up not liking it
