Have a look at your local Golden Pages and you'll find plenty of vultures willing to help, and relieve you of your shekels;).

The point is this area of law is in fact very difficult, a lot of Solicitors and barristers don't do it as it requires 2 important things 1 experience and 2 money. The experience it knowing the experts who will be required and the money because those experts charge a fortune.

If you are looking for a solicitor google the issue and see if the same solicitors names pop up all the time.

    I agree with ResearchWill.

You need the right medical expert. Will hav e to be outside ROI/NI. ( Irish medics will not get involved in another Irish medic's case ). There are UK medics who circulate or advertise their availability for med neg cases. Some good, some not. You need to talk about experts to a solicitor who has med neg experience. Your usual solicitor may be able to put you in touch with some solicitor who does med neg.

The expert will advise on what further information you need from the hospital and doctors, and report on same. Then assuming report indicates there is negligence and or breach of duty, off you go. Watch the time limits.

NB Some large awards are referred to in the media. Many such cases fail, or are withdrawn

    OP,

For various reasons, medical negligence cases are not entered into lightly.

Also, for various reasons, it can take quite a lot of time to gather all of the relevant evidence and medical report(s) which will assist the solicitor and counsel in properly advising the client in relation to a potential medical negligence case.

Considering the length of time that may be involved, it is better to take advice sooner rather than later.

At the very least, the sale of goods and supply of services act should refund you fees paid, which is small beans, but something

    OP

When it comes to Medical negligence or malpractice the standard of negligence you would have to prove is very high, a mistake made by the Doctor is not enough.

Find a solicitor who has experience of this area, a simple google search should turn up a few. an experienced solicitor wil be able to tell you quickly if you have a claim or not.
