I'm sure evryone's seen the news that Richard III's body has been found. on the news they said that it's going to be reburied in Leicester cathedral and they'll have a ceremony. Does anyone know what they mean by ceremony? Does it mean that they're giving him a funeral?

It means an excuse for a piss-up and faux-patriotism for someone half the country would never have heard of, but sort of think they recognise (when they've got him confused with Lord Farquaad from Shrek).

It all sounds very, very dodgy.

Underneath a car park happens to be the remains of Richard III. *Cough* *Cough*.

Having said that, I'm very interested in how they made that DNA link because in a local monastery is somebody with my surname who was buried there over 800 years ago. My family has lived in this area since so I wonder can I do a scientific test to prove my connection?

I doubt they'd exhume a body for that.

Way back in 1485 Leicester City Council decided to build a new car park in the middle of town.

But the King wouldn't hear of it. Over my dead body said Richard III.

    And the rest is history.

They'll chalk a pentagram in the middle of the cathedral and then sacrifice a goat........or a virgin..........or a virgin goat

They traced an direct dececdent in Canada that was a DNA match add the spinal curvature head wound and arrow in the back they were pretty sure before they matched the DNA,

As for the same surname in your local cematary have you tried researching your family ancestry you might find it pretty interesting

If they hold a state funeral it will have to be Anglican, which is a bit crap as he predates it. I know the protocol is to rebury remains as close as possible to where they were found, but I think he should be brought back to York.

Carpark is a bit misleading. He was buried without ceremony, shroud or coffin in the nearest church, Grey Friars. It was a decrepit church even then and it was destroyed sometime later. The carpark was built directly over the ruins, probably an unremarkable field for centuries.

This is known. Its why we make the jokes about car parks

So as not to offend those who get a bit jumpy if we make jokes about churches. ;)

His remains found under a carpark? almost sounds as if he was killed by the mafia or something. Funny enough I was thinking about Jimmy Hoffa when I was watching the news about Richard being found. Don't know why though, but I was thinking to myself, imagine if they found the remains of Hoffa.

Also does anyone remember the end of Gangs of New York when they have the graves of Bill the Butcher and Priest Vallon, and in the distance is New York City, and they show New York changing over the years, while the graves deteriorate and are forgotten. Looks like King Richard had the same thing, except I don't think he had a thombstone.

Probably a pretty good description of the Tudors.

I'm sure Elton John is reworking one of his old hits from the 70's especially for this funeral, but which one?
