2007 Audi A3 brake pad light has just come on but the pads were replaced 4,500KM ago. Any ideas?

I would assume that all the pads were replaced, would that be the norm in a garage?

not necessarily, brakes get changed in pairs, either front or back, all four dont have to be changed at the same time

Had the same problem on an Octavia a couple of years ago, it turned out that the discs were slightly warped (didn't notice it on braking) but it meant that the pads were wearing unevenly, there was a lot of pad left but the sensor light was on. I'm not sure how common it is

Nope. They rarely wear at the same rate, so you would be replacing front or back pads usually much in the same way you would usually only have to replace one pair of tyres.

It was the front because they squeaked for a while after. I thought you meant they may not of replaced all of the pads on the front! :o

Happened to me before and turned out it was a CV boot had gone and there was grease on the brake sensor :)

    It was just a sensor!
