Its not great entertainment, and its not full of laughs. Its not like an old school comedy, or something.

So no, no, its not. Really.

    80s? 70s, more like.

One or two of the jokes are actually ok, but they tend to be the ones that O'Carroll shamelessly stole from proper comedians.

I love how not liking "Mrs. Brown" equates with being a high-brow snob.

But you're right though. I am a high-brow snob and I prefer something a little more humourous and intellectual, for example Spongebob Squarepants.

hmmm. bit of a fail there.

for example, 'The Jeremy Kyle Show' would have got ye in.

as Spongebob is staggeringly intelligent. One of the great works of art this decade.

(ps Richard, man. I mean.... ye know?)

    Mrs. Brown's Boys ? It's not awesome it's dismal .

I have not actually watched it myself. I saw a few threads on this site and also some reviews elsewhere which pretty much said it was rubbish, and from seeing glimpses of it I can tell it's not my cup of tea. But I have heard other people, significantly older than me ,rave about it and I have heard these people laughing like maniacs at some of the jokes. The few bits I have seen seem to be of the Carry-On type double-entendre line of comedy. I think it's aimed at a particular demographic, perhaps middle aged or elderly people?

It's a bit like being called a 'foodie' for not eating dog ****e off the floor.

Why all the hate? Some people are projecting anger onto a derivative tv show? Get a grip people!

Is Mrs. Browns boys not just a load of repeats?

I had the boxsets years ago and anytime I watch it I cant help but to think that Iv seen it all before.

It's not something I'd ever plan to watch, or choose to turn over to, but I've seen it a few times at the parents house and I've laughed a lot at it. It's that kind of old fashioned innocent smutty humour from before comedians started trying to be as offensive and edgy as humanly possible. There's something simple and sweet about it, and while most of the jokes are are simple, some of them are still pretty funny.

I can't see myself ever really wanting to watch it, but if it's on and someone else is watching it, I'll watch along and laugh along and enjoy it. There's plenty of shows I won't even do that for, and there's plenty of shows that are a hell of a lot worse.

I thought the Christmas Special was crap... But I watch it for the one liners, and the standard has been good in the series.. It's crude, simplistic and the acting is pretty bad, but the jokes are good... It makes me laugh so it passes the test..

For me its the act of seeing a grown man dressed as and talking like his mother.

    unsettles me every time that.

must be that movie, you know, the one with the knife in the shower scene...

It used to be called 'Leave it to Mrs O'Brien'...then they added some curse words...like feckin' and Jaysus.

On the plus side the Brits no longer believe we are a bunch of 'tards.

    They now know it.

It's corny and predictable and I really can't see how it has appealed to the masses in the way it has.
There's been funnier shows on telly over the years, i.e The Royle Family, Early Doors, One Foot in the Grave, that actually provide genuine laughs.
Mrs Brown's Boys is so cheesy and the cast make me cringe.

I hate how they laugh when someone slips up on a line and I can't stand the blonde one married to Brendan O'Carroll. She cannot act.
