Exhaust: Does it matter which brand

The backbox, end silencer, is gone on my car,(97 honda civic 1.4 hatch) and I was planning on replacing it myself as doesn't seem to hard a job.

The question I have is I've looked at the prices of some online and is a fair variation, from micksgarage there is a Bosal one for 105 or a QuintinHazell for 65. Was also looking at some uk sites where they have some for £30 and didn't give brand.

Is there much of an advantage with the expensive ones, especially considering not really critical part its just a metal box really.

Advice appreciated also if anyone has any suggestions of somewhere I can get one cheap enough.

There are huge differences between quality exhausts and cheap ones, both in how well they work and how well they fit.

If you plan on keeping the car then I'd go for a decent brand as I've regularly seen cheap exhausts barely last a year.

That does kinda make sense alright now you say it, quality of metal and welds and that.

As it turns out I brought it to place to be done anyway.

For the life of me I couldn't get it off the rubber band holders, one of them I struggled with but managed but the other one for the life of me I couldn't get it off.

Then when I went to undo the bolts at the flange one of them just sheared on me.

Was all getting to much for me so in the end brought it somwhere to be done, not sure what brand I ended up with but not too sure will I still have car in a year anyway.

    Cheers for advice
