I've a long bench (made of MDF) in the kitchen that i want to make deeper. What I was planning on doing is cutting a length a few inches wide that I'll stick to the bottom of the bench and allow an inch or two overlap.
Then I'll cut another length and attach this to the top of the new part.
    Result will be flush extension.

will No more nails be strong enough to hold this, as this will be at the front of the bench i imagine it'll take extra weight when people are standing up.

is there a better way of doing this. a new length on top will raise the bench to high for the table. there'll be a cushion on top.

    The bench is 3.8m Long.

How thick is the bench seat? I'd say what you are planning wouldnt be strong enough.

If adding an extra layer of bench seat would be too high for the table? can you also lower the legs of the bench?

Failing that, add extra vertical supports under the bench extension, say every metre?

i dont trust myself shaving the legs off, Straight lines was never my strong point.

the legs are are box, so its a long cut needed.

the extra leg support may be easily done.

the fellow who made it was originally meant to make it 450 deep, but he never allowed for the back rest which is about 100 deep, resulting in the bench only being 350 deep.
