Fixing a scrape

So when driving into our driveway, my SO scrapes the side of our car on our brick pillar (see the attached photo). It doesn't seem too deep, but you can certainly feel the grooves and it's gone into the metal :(

I've seen some of the posts on here about repairing the front bumper, but is repairing thermoplastics like the bumper the same as repairing a scrape on the car metal?

As always, any advice appreciated :)

It will have to be sanded back, filled, and painted unfortunately.

A bit of polish might take the harsh look off it (the lighter scratches), but repaint is the only option.

Might be cheaper to pick up a replacement trim from a breakers?
